π¨π Paint the tallest mountain in North America with America's only sled-dog rangers β Denali and the historic dog team
Massive snow-capped Denali rising in brilliant white and warm granite against a deep cobalt sky. A team of Alaskan huskies pulling a wooden dog sled through fresh snow. A park ranger in a warm red parka guiding them. Dense snow-covered spruce trees framing the composition. Warm winter sunlight catching the snow. Denali with a working sled dog team is the postcard shot of Alaska β the highest peak on the continent, and the last national park in America where the rangers still patrol by dogsled. And it is your painting.
Hear the runners on the snow. Watch the huskies pull. Let the brush find the white. Paint it on your iPad or print it and paint on canvas β both are included.

β¨ A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
Denali National Park and Preserve covers 24,585 square kilometres of central Alaskan wilderness β an area larger than the state of New Hampshire. At the heart of the park stands Denali itself, the tallest mountain in North America, rising 6,190 metres above sea level, though its vertical rise from base to summit is actually greater than Mount Everest's. The mountain has been known as Denali β "The Tall One" in the Koyukon Athabascan language β for thousands of years by the Indigenous peoples of interior Alaska. It was officially renamed Mount McKinley in 1917 after President William McKinley, but restored to its ancestral name in 2015. The park was established as Mount McKinley National Park in 1917 and expanded and renamed in 1980 under the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. It contains just one road β the 148-kilometre Denali Park Road β most of which is closed to private vehicles to protect the wildlife. This is one of the few remaining places on Earth where you can see grizzly bears, wolves, moose, caribou and Dall sheep all in a single day of driving. Denali is the only national park in the United States that still maintains a working sled dog kennel. The park's Alaskan husky teams have been patrolling the wilderness in winter since 1922 β used to haul supplies, patrol the 2-million-acre wilderness zone, and carry out backcountry rangers where snowmobiles are banned. The rangers who work with the dogs are called "kennels rangers," and they raise, train and mush the teams year-round. The dogs still wear leather harnesses and pull traditional wooden sleds, exactly the way rangers have done here for over 100 years. Every summer, the kennels are opened to visitors for demonstrations, and the ranger dog handlers give talks explaining how the teams work. Denali receives around 600,000 visitors a year β but only about 30% of them ever see the mountain, which is famously hidden by clouds for most of the summer. Seeing the peak β the great white pyramid rising over the tundra β is what Alaskans call "joining the 30% club." Paint this scene, and the peak is yours whenever you want.
