πŸŽ¨πŸ¦’ Paint the tallest animals on Earth against a burning African sky β€” a majestic giraffe herd walking through the golden savanna A majestic giraffe herd walking across the golden African savanna at sunset with acacia trees. A small herd of three iconic tall Masai giraffes with distinctive warm ochre-gold and warm chestnut-brown irregular patterned coats and impressive elegant long necks striding gracefully through the golden savanna against a burning amber sky. Brilliant warm ochre-gold and warm chestnut giraffe patterned coats catching brilliant coral and gold in the last light in exquisite detail with beautiful visible texture. Warm cream giraffe muzzles catching brilliant sunset warmth. Warm cream horns catching brilliant sunset gold. Warm gold giraffe eyes catching brilliant amber highlights. Warm cream giraffe underside catching coral highlights. Warm silhouettes of elegant giraffe long necks stretching gracefully upward reaching the acacia canopies. Warm ochre-gold dry African savanna grass in the foreground catching brilliant sunset warmth. Dense warm chestnut-brown African acacia trees with distinctive flat umbrella canopies framing the composition. Warm ochre and coral African dust rising softly from the walking herd catching brilliant amber sunset light. Distant warm silhouettes of two zebra grazing peacefully in the middle distance. Warm silhouette of an African fish eagle flying dramatically above the herd catching first sunset light. The giraffe herd at sunset is Africa itself β€” the tallest animals on Earth, and the elegant crowned silhouettes of the Serengeti. And it is your painting. Walk quietly onto the plain at dusk. Watch three long necks reach the acacia. Let the brush find the ochre. Paint it on your iPad or print it and paint on canvas β€” both are included. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🎨 WHAT YOU GET βœ”οΈ 5 difficulty levels β€” 16, 24, 48, 72 and 96 colors β€” beginner to expert in one download βœ”οΈ 3 outline versions β€” numbered, blank and preview βœ”οΈ SVG + PDF + PNG file formats β€” print at any size without blurring βœ”οΈ Procreate colour swatches β€” drop the palette straight into your iPad βœ”οΈ HEX-coded colour palette on every page βœ”οΈ Instant digital download β€” nothing shipped ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ✨ A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS INCREDIBLE ANIMAL The giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) is the tallest living animal on Earth and one of the most iconic species of the entire African savanna ecosystem. Adult male giraffes regularly reach heights of 5.5-6.0 metres from ground to the top of their horns (ossicones), while adult females reach heights of 4.5-5.0 metres. Adult body weights range from 800 kilograms (adult females) to over 1,900 kilograms (large adult males). No other living land animal comes close to the giraffe's extraordinary vertical stature β€” the second-tallest land animal, the African elephant, stands only 4.0 metres tall at the shoulder. Giraffes inhabit an extensive range across sub-Saharan Africa, from the acacia woodlands of Kenya and Tanzania in East Africa to the savannas of southern Africa (Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia) and portions of the Sahel woodland belt of West Africa (Niger, Chad, Cameroon). The species has evolved into nine distinct recognised subspecies (Masai, Rothschild's, Reticulated, Southern, Angolan, Nubian, Kordofan, West African, and Thornicroft's giraffes), each with slightly different coat patterns and geographic ranges. The most iconic and widely photographed subspecies is the Masai giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi), found across the East African savannas of Kenya and Tanzania β€” the classic giraffe of Serengeti photography and international safari tourism. The giraffe's extraordinary height is not an aesthetic curiosity but a critical evolutionary adaptation. Giraffes feed almost exclusively on the young leaves and buds of acacia trees β€” a species of thorny African tree whose canopy typically develops at heights of 3-6 metres above ground. The giraffe's extraordinary neck length allows it to browse exclusive food sources that essentially no other African herbivore can reach, giving giraffes access to an untouched food niche that has enabled the species to thrive across the African savannas for over 8 million years. Adult giraffes consume approximately 34 kilograms of vegetation per day, requiring approximately 16-20 hours of active browsing during every 24-hour cycle. The giraffe's neck is one of the most extraordinary anatomical features in the mammalian world. Despite its extreme length (adult male giraffe necks can measure over 2.4 metres from shoulder to head), the giraffe's neck contains only 7 cervical vertebrae β€” exactly the same number as in the neck of a mouse, a human, or a whale. Each individual cervical vertebra is simply extraordinarily elongated (approximately 25 centimetres per vertebra in an adult giraffe). To pump blood the full 2.4 metres upward from heart to brain against gravity, the giraffe has evolved one of the most powerful cardiovascular systems of any land animal β€” an enormous heart weighing approximately 11 kilograms and generating blood pressure levels approximately twice as high as those of any other mammal. The distinctive irregular warm ochre-gold and warm chestnut-brown patterned coat of giraffes serves as extraordinarily effective camouflage among the broken shadow-and-light patterns cast by acacia trees on the African savanna at dawn and dusk. Each individual giraffe has a completely unique coat pattern (like human fingerprints or Bengal tiger stripes), and field biologists use these unique patterns for individual identification in wildlife census surveys. Coat patterns are also inherited genetically from mother to calf, allowing scientists to trace family relationships across generations of wild giraffe populations. Giraffes are social animals that live in loose fluid "tower" groups (the collective noun for a group of giraffes is beautifully called a "tower") β€” typically 10-20 individuals composed of adult females, sub-adults, and calves. Adult males often lead more solitary lives, moving between multiple female-led tower groups during the extended breeding season. Giraffes are famous for the extraordinary male-vs-male "necking" combat during breeding season β€” an elaborate ritual in which two adult males swing their massive necks like slow-motion warhammers to strike each other repeatedly during dominance contests, occasionally with sufficient force to knock the opposing male unconscious. The giraffe's conservation status is more precarious than many casual observers assume. Historic populations of over 155,000 wild giraffes existed across sub-Saharan Africa in 1985. Sustained habitat loss, agricultural expansion, and (in some regions) illegal poaching have reduced total wild giraffe populations by approximately 40 percent over the past 35 years β€” a phenomenon that conservation biologists now refer to as the "silent extinction" (in contrast to the more publicised conservation crises of elephants, rhinos, and big cats). The IUCN Red List currently classifies the giraffe as Vulnerable, with several individual subspecies (Kordofan, Nubian, Reticulated, and West African) classified as Critically Endangered. The Giraffe Conservation Foundation, founded in 2009, has led a worldwide conservation effort to reverse population declines and restore critical acacia woodland habitats across sub-Saharan Africa. Contemporary conservation-linked wildlife tourism in Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, and Botswana has become one of the most important protection mechanisms for wild giraffe populations. The giraffe holds profound cultural significance across the traditional Maasai, Samburu, and Kikuyu peoples of East Africa, and appears throughout ancient Egyptian art from over 5,000 years ago (Egyptian hieroglyphic records document giraffes being transported alive from Sudan to Egypt as royal gifts during the pharaonic dynasties). Standing quietly on the Maasai Mara plains at 6:30 PM on a warm September evening, watching three graceful Masai giraffes stride slowly across the golden savanna reaching their long necks upward to feed on warm ochre acacia leaves while brilliant coral sunset light catches their distinctive patterned coats, is one of the most soulful and elegant wildlife experiences anywhere on Earth. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ πŸ“₯ HOW IT WORKS 1.
