π¨ποΈ Paint the quiet twin of the Canadian Rockies - Pyramid Lake and Pyramid Mountain at sunrise in Jasper
A perfect pyramid peak blazing brilliant pink and gold in the first alpenglow. A still turquoise lake doubling the mountain in flawless mirror symmetry. Dense pine and spruce lining the shore, golden autumn cottonwoods along the water, and the little red pedestrian bridge to Pyramid Island catching the first light. Pyramid Lake at sunrise is Jasper at its most peaceful and most beautiful β the quieter sibling of Banff, the dark-sky capital of Canada, and a corner of the Rockies most people never see. And it is your painting.
Come out before dawn. Watch Pyramid catch fire. Let the brush find the pink. Paint it on your iPad or print it and paint on canvas - both are included.

β¨ A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
Jasper National Park sits in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, just north of Banff along the Icefields Parkway β one of the most spectacular drives in the world. At 11,000 square kilometres, Jasper is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies and roughly four times the size of Banff, yet receives less than half the annual visitors β the reason locals call it "the quiet giant of the Rockies." The park was established in 1907 as Jasper Forest Park and became a full national park in 1930. It was declared part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. Pyramid Mountain rises 2,766 metres directly northwest of the town of Jasper and gets its name from its near-perfect three-sided pyramid shape β the result of two glacial valleys carving its flanks over the last ice age. Its distinctive reddish-orange hue comes from oxidised iron in the ancient sedimentary rock, which glows dramatically pink and gold in the alpenglow of dawn and sunset. Pyramid Lake itself is a small kettle lake formed by melting ice at the end of the last glacial period roughly 11,000 years ago. A small wooden footbridge β the iconic little red bridge β connects the shore to Pyramid Island, a sacred site for the Indigenous MΓ©tis and Stoney Nakoda peoples that has been used for gatherings and ceremony for generations. In 2011, Jasper was officially designated the second-largest Dark Sky Preserve in the world β 11,228 square kilometres of legally protected dark night sky, where light pollution is strictly controlled and the Milky Way is visible on almost any clear night. Every October, the town hosts the Jasper Dark Sky Festival, drawing astronomers and photographers from around the world. Stand on the shore of Pyramid Lake before dawn β with the peak reflected in perfect symmetry, the alpenglow just beginning to touch the summit, and a sky still full of the last stars β and you are looking at one of the most beautiful sunrises in the Rockies, in one of the darkest, quietest corners of Canada.
