π¨β¨ Paint the lost city of the Incas at sunrise β Machu Picchu in the Peruvian Andes
Warm gold on ancient stone. The sugarloaf peak of Huayna Picchu rising against a cobalt sky. Silver mist curling through the terraces. The Urubamba River winding through the valley 400 metres below. Machu Picchu at sunrise is the moment every traveller waits hours in the dark for β the moment the first light hits the citadel and 500 years of stone catch fire. One of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the most iconic Inca site on Earth. And it is your painting.
Brew the coca tea. Watch the sun come up. Let the brush find the stone. Paint it on your iPad or print it and paint on canvas β both are included.

β¨ A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
Machu Picchu was built around 1450 during the reign of the Inca emperor Pachacuti, on a saddle between two Andean peaks at 2,430 metres above sea level. Its stones β some weighing over 20 tonnes β were quarried on-site and fitted together so precisely that no mortar was ever used and a knife blade still cannot slip between them. The citadel was abandoned around 1572, shortly after the Spanish conquest, and forgotten by the outside world for nearly 350 years. In 1911, Yale historian Hiram Bingham was led up the mountain by an 11-year-old local boy named Pablito and rediscovered the ruins swallowed by cloud forest. Machu Picchu was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. To this day, no one knows exactly what it was β royal estate, sacred sanctuary, astronomical observatory. The Incas left no written records. Only the stones.
