π¨π Paint the birthplace of America in peak Pennsylvania autumn β Independence Hall in Philadelphia
The classic 1753 Georgian red-brick colonial building with its iconic white tower and steeple rising against a deep cobalt sky. Warm red-brick walls glowing warm coral in the afternoon light. Dense mature elm and oak trees along Independence Mall blazing brilliant crimson red, mustard yellow and warm amber autumn colour framing the composition. Warm cobblestone walkways in the foreground. Warm silhouettes of visitors. Independence Hall in October is Pennsylvania at its most historic and most beautiful β the exact building where the American nation was born, dressed in the colours of a Keystone State fall. And it is your painting.
Walk under the elms on Independence Mall. Watch the tower catch the crimson light. Let the brush find the brick. Paint it on your iPad or print it and paint on canvas β both are included.

β¨ A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
Independence Hall β originally called the Pennsylvania State House β stands at the corner of Chestnut and 6th Street in Old City Philadelphia. Construction began in 1732 to designs by lawyer and amateur architect Andrew Hamilton and master builder Edmund Woolley, and it was completed in 1753 at a total cost of Β£5,600 sterling. Built in the Georgian style with red Philadelphia brick, contrasting white wooden trim, and a distinctive bell tower topped by a white wooden steeple, the building originally served as the meeting place of the Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly. Then, between 1775 and 1783, everything changed. On May 10, 1775, the Second Continental Congress convened in the Assembly Room on the first floor and began the long deliberation over independence from Great Britain. On July 4, 1776, in that same room, the Congress officially adopted the Declaration of Independence β drafted primarily by Thomas Jefferson with input from Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Roger Sherman. Eleven years later, from May 25 to September 17, 1787, the Constitutional Convention met in the same room to draft, debate, and adopt the United States Constitution β with George Washington presiding, and delegates including James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, Franklin, and 39 other Founding Fathers signing the final document. The Liberty Bell, cast in 1752 at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in London, originally hung in the Independence Hall bell tower and rang to announce the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 8, 1776. The bell famously cracked in the mid-1800s and was retired from service, and today it sits in a specially designed pavilion across the street from Independence Hall in the Liberty Bell Center, where over 2 million visitors see it every year. Independence Hall itself was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966 and inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 β one of only 26 World Heritage Sites in the entire United States. The 55-acre Independence National Historical Park surrounding the building was established by an Act of Congress in 1948 and is managed by the U.S. National Park Service, drawing over 3 million visitors annually. Every autumn, the mature elms and red oaks lining Independence Mall turn brilliant crimson and gold β the same trees John Adams and Benjamin Franklin walked beneath in the autumns of 1775, 1776 and 1787. Standing under those trees in October, looking up at the tower where the Declaration of Independence was first read aloud to the world, is to stand in the exact place where America was born.
