π¨π Paint the most colourful port city on the Pacific - ValparaΓso hillside at golden hour
Fuchsia. Turquoise. Mustard yellow. Coral. Cobalt blue. Houses stacked in a tumbling patchwork up the steep cerros of Chile's most bohemian port, street art murals covering every wall, a vintage funicular clanking up between the buildings, and the Pacific glowing silver in the distance. ValparaΓso is Chile at its loudest, most creative, and most joyful - a UNESCO World Heritage city that Pablo Neruda called "the queen of all the coasts of the world." And it is your painting.
Put on the vinyl. Pour the wine. Let the brush find the fuchsia. Paint it on your iPad or print it and paint on canvas β both are included.

β¨ A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
ValparaΓso β "Paradise Valley" in Spanish β was founded in 1536 and became one of the most important Pacific ports of the 19th century, the last stop for ships rounding Cape Horn before San Francisco. Sailors, immigrants and merchants arrived from every port on Earth: British, German, Italian, Croatian, French, Chinese. They built their houses on the impossibly steep cerros using leftover corrugated metal, scrap wood and marine paint from the ships in the harbour β which is why no two panels are ever the same colour. The city built 30 funicular railways (called "ascensores") to connect the port to the hillsides, and 16 still run today. When the Panama Canal opened in 1914, ValparaΓso's era as a global port ended overnight, and the city was left to its painters, poets and street artists. Pablo Neruda kept his most beloved house here β La Sebastiana, perched high on the hillside. In 2003, UNESCO declared the historic centre a World Heritage Site. Every colour on those walls is a story about someone who arrived here by ship.
